Van Michael Barnette

  Mr. Van Michael Barnette, 66 of Youngstown, transitioned this life peacefully on January 21, 2025 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. 

Mr. Barnette was born on May 2, 1958 in Roanoke, VA, a son to George and Maddie Barnett. 

Van was a devoted father and is survived by his five children, Van Michael Jr., Caroline, George , Tarel and Roselyn, his love for them was unwavering; he was also a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren whose lives he touched deeply with his warmth guided and unwavering love; he is also survived by his siblings, Robert Barnette, Janice Baldwin, Olivia Barnette, Lorenza Barnette Sr. and Tora Barnette and a host of other family and friends.

Over these past couple years Van spent a lot of time with his grandchildren, going fishing, cookouts, and celebrate birthdays. Though he is no longer with us the memories of his love, laughter and strength will live on in the hearts of all that knew him . 

He preceded in death by his parents, and his brother’s, Allen, Tim and Albert.

A homegoing funeral celebration with be held 12:00 P.M. Monday, February 3, 2025 at F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home Inc., the family will receive friend from 11:00 to 12:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
