Mr. Timothy Roy Rutledge Sr. also known as "RUT DOGG", 55 of Youngstown, transitioned life on Saturday December 28, 2024, at Park Vista of Youngstown.
Timothy was born on February 5, 1969, in Youngstown OH, the 7th child of Nellie Mae and Josephus Rutledge Sr.
He's always been an over achieving athletic since the age of 6. He attended East High School where he was an all American defensive back and an all state point guard for the Golden Bears . He graduated in 1987 then earned a scholarship and went on to attend the Ohio State University where he played strong safety, nickel, and cornerback through the years of 89-90. Shortly after he dedicated his passion and time into coaching and mentoring young and upcoming athletes throughout the city. He was inducted into East High School Hall of Fame in 2004 and having his number retired in 2024.
Mr. Rutledge had an immense love for all sports, but football was his true passion. He spent many years mentoring and coaching children on a Little League and high school football level. With his most recent efforts assisting at his alma mater, East High School.
He managed and consulted The Big Dude's Lounge of Youngstown for over 15 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing and listening to music, especially his favorite artist George Clinton. He was a true Funk-A-Teer. He was a great Father, son, brother, and friend of many
Timothy leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Tiara Rutledge, Timothy Rutledge II, Marquis Butler; his siblings Josephine (Steve) Moses, Carol Finley, Theresa Rutledge, Josephus Rutledge JI, Maggie Rutledge, Deborah (Derrick) Logan, Robin Rutledge, and Robinette Felder; his grandson Logan Rutledge and a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Nellie and Josephus Rutledge; his wife Eloise McGary-Rutledge and his son Marques Butler.
Tim will always be remembered as an EASTSIDE LEGEND #24, whose presence will never be forgotten.
A homegoing funeral celebration with be held 12:00 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2025 at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church , the family will receive friend from 10:30 to 12:00 P.M. Friday at the church.
