Sarah Louise Torbert Washington

Sarah L. T. Washington- Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday at the Third Baptist Church for Mrs. Sarah Louise Torbert Washington, 88, who departed this life on Sunday June 26, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Mrs. Washington was born July 17, 1927, in Opelika, Ala., a daughter of Harrison and Idell Sanders Moore. She was a long standing member of the Third Baptist Church where she served on the Courtesy Committee, was active with the Ruth Bible Class and Keenagers Club. She was a ward clerk at Southside Hospital for 15 years before working as an assembler and retiring from General Motors in 1985. She leaves a son, James H. Torbert Jr. of Youngstown, 2 grandsons, James III., of Leavittsburg and Duane L. (Sonya) Martin Sr., of Columbus, Oh.,  great-grandson, James IV of Hubbard and Duane L. Martin Jr., of Columbus, OH.,a great-granddaughter, Danaysia L. Martin of Columbus and a host of  nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Patricia A. Torbert, who went to be with the Lord as an infant in 1948; brothers, James Anderson Moore, and Thomas L. Moore and step-brothers Louis Williams Jr. Friends may call from 11 am to 12 noon at the church.
