Rubye Lee Pates

Rubye L. Pates-Funeral services were held Friday May 20, 2016, at 1 pm, at the F. D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., for Mrs. Rubye Lee Pates, 94, Youngstown, who departed this life on Wednesday May 11, 2016, at Specialty Select Hospital. Mrs. Pates was a bundle of blessings born to the Late Ms. Ola Mae Morris and Mr. Oscar Rollin in Rome, GA. She graduated from the state of Alabama school system. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. As an only child she was raised with nothing but love and affection. Rubye married the love of her life, the late Mr. Edward Pates, known as "Eddie" to many on October 24, 1953. Rubye was a loving and devoted mother of 3,  Mr. Terry Gene Thomas, Mr. Abdulmateen Salaam, and Miss Nothrice A. Pates.  She was a compassionate, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, a loving aunt and friend. She was a pure delight to all those who ever had an opportunity to come in to her life's path. Rubye was very articulate about many things in the world, society and culture. A very defining lady who enjoyed art, fashion, cooking, traveling, good food and music. Rubye was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Pates, a son; Terry G. Thomas, and daughter Nothrice A. Pates. She leaves to cherich her precious memoires a loving devoted son, Abdulmateen (Ayesha) Salaam of Cleveleand, OH., her granddaughter; Shahidha J. Pates, great-grandson; Dakarai J. Pates, and great-granddaughter Saadiyah J. Pates of Alanta, GA., who were the apple of her eye, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
