Rachel M. Leeper-Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, September 2, 2017, at New Beginnings Church, 3000 Market st, for Mrs. Rachel M. Leeper, 81, who departed this life on Saturday, August 25, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Leeper was born February 24, 1936, in Franklin, PA., a daughter of Thomas G. and Mable M. Patterson Whitfield. She was a foster parent for the Mahoning County Children's Services. She was a member of the church and it's Prison Ministry, President of the Housekeeping ministry and a former choir member. She was also a talented piano player had a "green thumb" for her flower garden, and loved and cared for animals. Rachel was deeply loved and highly respected by all who knew her. She was a dedicated prayer warrior and an avid bible reade. Her leadership was always by christian example. She was an active member in the New Beginnings Church prison ministry. She was always working unto the Lord for perfection. Her husband Cecil C. Leeper whom she married November 8, 1968, died August 7, 1990. She leaves her son Kenneth Leeper of Atlanta, GA., a brother Joseph W. Whitfield of Buffalo, NY., a sister Elizabeth A. Whitfield of Youngstown and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parent; 2 sisters; Eunice L. Clayton and Lois V. Smith, and a brother Moses H. Whitfield. Friends may call from 10 am to 11 am at the church.
