On Monday, December 19, 2024, our father who was a beacon of strength, and a vessel of love, and whose absence leaves a void in the hearts of his family. A dedicated father who taught his children, the importance of God, family, hard work and doing what is right, transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home.
Mr. Oscar C. North Jr. affectionately called “Carl” 75 of Youngstown, was born August 29, 1949 in Youngstown, Ohio a son of Oscar D. North and Helen Alice Williams.
Call attended South High School home of the South High Warriors class of 1968. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Carl was all about his family and passionately believed in the traditional values of life. He was our “Family ” historian and shared many memories and wisdom making you feel as if you were right there in the time when the moment took place.
Call was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army from 1968 - 1975. He retired from General Electric Light Company in 2010. He also worked at Copperweld Steel where he a Forman in the Crain department. He was a member of Steel worker Union #1375 and retired in 2005. He also worked as a security officer for Securitas Security Company and Trumble Memorial Hospital in Vector Steel.
He was a “ true and dedicated fan” of the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed fishing, war movies, old tv westerns, playing cards, and shooting pool.
He also worked at Gateways for Better Living, and as a painter for the A. D. Byrd. He carried a vast variety of degrees and training as a certified welder and emergency medical technician from Choffin Career Center.
Carl shared his marital vows with his late wife, whom he cherished and love dearly, May 25, 1991 building a life together and raising their daughters. He adored and lived for all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Oscar leaves to mourn his passing, but celebrate his life and legacy his children, Walter(Michelle) Brown, Yolanda(Tessie) Driver both of here, Justin (Myrah-Ashley) Dixon of Pittsburgh, Angelica (Trevor) Simpson of Aurora, IL, and Armyana North also of here, Brandon and Owens whom he helped rear as a son and a granddaughter Alyssa “Cree” Harrison Home he helped rear as a daughter; his grandchildren, Sheniqua, Walter Jr., (PJ), Eraysha, Antonio, En’Dia, E’Lexus, Emma Lee, Alonna, Tristan, and Tatum; his great grandchildren, Kenton, Kamden, Kiara, Carissa, Rayshown, Riaylin, Rae’Na and Raymère; his cousins who were raised like his older brothers and sisters to him, Marlie Byrd, Sharon Perry, Ernest Jr., Ronald, Daryl, Casey and Ike Bell; his bonus family, Ursula, VaKesha.
Rosalyn, Sonya, Denise, Anessa, Jermaine and LeEra; his bonus grandson, William (EJ) Jr. and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his great grandparents, John and Alice Williams, whom he also was reared by; his special aunt, Irene Casey; his special uncles, Henry “Little Man”, Clyde Williams.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jeannie North; his son, Charles Carlton Mills and a cousin like a brother, Cortland Casey Sr. And his lifelong friend Josephine North.
There will be a very special homegoing celebration to be held 11:00AM Monday December 30, 2024 at New Bethel Baptist Church and the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the church. The service will start promptly at 11:00.
