Mary Wainwright - A memorial service celebrating the life of Mary Virginia Buggs-Wainwright will be held on Friday at noon, April 20, 2018, at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St. in Youngstown. Mary Virginia Buggs-Wainwright, 80, went to be with the Lord in March 23, 2018.
Mrs. Wainwright was a registered donor to Science Care for medical research.
Mrs. Wainwright was born March 29, 1937, in Cleveland, a daughter of Charles and Leona Maddox Frazier.
She retired from General Electric Austintown Coil Plant, where she was known as Mary to some and “Buggsy” to others.
She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in various ministries before moving to Oakland, Calif. She lived life to the fullest and traveled across the country several times to be with family. Mary enjoyed sharing what she had with others and giving back to the community.
Her first marriage was to John F. Buggs Sr. They had four children.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, John F. Buggs Jr. of Alabama, with whom she made her home and Nigel J. Buggs of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Margaret D. Buggs-Townsend of Youngstown; raised by cousins, the late Ralph and Wilia Mae Robinson; three brothers, Cecil Frazier of Sacramento, Clyde W. Frazier; and Michael Claytor of Youngstown; and four sisters, Evelyn (Thomas) Jenkins of McDonald, Linda Tillery, Carol Jean Smith, and Patricia Elaine Meadows, all of Youngstown; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dr. Darrell L. Grace.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Louis Maurice Wainwright; daughter Debra L. Colyar; two granddaughters, Linda M. Coylar and Lori R. Townsend; and stepparents, Hobart and Tommie Lou Claytor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Church Memorial Prayer Garden in her name.
