Marchell Moore-Funeral services will be held 11 am, Friday, September 22, 2017, at F. D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., for Mr. Marchell "Sonny Boy" Moore, 79, Youngstown, who departed this life on Friday, September 15, 2017, in St.Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Moore was born June 12, 1938, in Hernando,MS, a son of Elicious and Cora Lee Moore Bernard, and was reared by Josie Mix after the death of his parents. Marchell worked at the Lee Cotton gin in Mississippi as a Press Operator for 16 years and was also known as the best cotton chopper until he moved to Youngstown, Ohio in 1976. He continued his work ethic at the local 125 Union Hall as a brick layer. On September 26, 1959, he married his sweetheart Lela Mae Stigall. For 58 years they loved, honored, and obeyed each other until death did him part. "Sonny Boy" leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, his children; Betty Banks, Deborah Blandon, Brenda Moore, Marchell (Bernice) Moore Jr.,, all of Youngstown, and Larry (Stephanie) Stigall of Atlanta, GA., a brother, Jimmy (Patricia) Moore , and a special nephew John "Shane" (Jackie) Moore both of Chicago, IL., 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Marvin Stigall and Baby Moore, a sister Christine Willie, and a great-grandson William McClane. Friends may call from 10 am to 11 am at the funeral home.
