Gaither Lynetta Shockley

Gaither Lynetta Griffin-Shockley, 68, Departed this life on February 11, 2024, at 7:41 pm at St. Elizabeth’s  Hospital, Youngstown, OH with her family and friends by her side.

Gaither was born on January 28, 1956, in Accomack County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Ethel V. Griffin-Doane and Clifton H. Northam Sr.

Gaither was known for being a Cosmologist in both Ohio and Pennsylvania for the majority of her career. She had  extraordinary talent in the arts, and a never ending love for music. In addition, she was an avid reader and had a keen interest in knowledge.

She leaves cherished memories to her brother, Clifton Northam of Colorado Springs, Her children, Keisa Shockley of Colorado Springs, Reginald Gilchrist Jr., Lafay Walden II, Autumn (Tafari Holness) Walden, Taylor (Terrance Jones) Walden, a Stepdaughter, Hannah Walden; Five grandchildren, Laila Gilchrist, Korey Shockley, Amelia Walden, Teryn Jones, Prince Armour, and the Father of her three children, Lafay Walden Sr. all of Youngstown.


She was preceded in death by her parents, and her eldest son, Corey Shockley.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held 11:00am Thursday February 15, 2024 at F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home. A repast will follow at 1pm at Mount Gilead Fellowship Hall 2821 Hillman St. Youngstown OH.
