Freeman Jones Jr

Freeman "Bozo" Jones Jr-Freeman "Bozo" Jones Jr., 90, passed away on October 2, 2015 in Youngstown, after a lengthy battle from a stroke. He was born on July 22, 1925 in Youngstown, a son of Freeman and Virginia Boone Averhart Jones. He attended the Beulah Baptist Church as a young man. He joined the U.S. Naval Service in 1943 and fought World War II before earning an honorable discharge in 1946, as a seaman first class. He was employed as a construction worker and was a long time member of the Youngstown Local Union 125. As a youth, he spent his summers as a lifeguard at Youngstown Chase City Pool. He enjoyed relaxing at the lakes boating and fishing, and being with family members. On May 29,1948 he married the former Zera M. Gamble of Marvel Arkansas. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Zera Jones of Youngstown; 4 sons: Donald (Yetta) Jones of Forney, Texas, Dennis (Jolanda) Jones of Fort Worth, TX, Deniso (Robbie) Jones of Dallas, and Dexter Jones of Gahanna; niece/daughter Judy Quarles of Youngstown; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Freeman Jones Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Mary Etta Joann Faucette; and 3 brothers: John Averhart Sr., Pressley Averhart, and Dave Averhart. Visitation will be Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 9:30-10:30 am and services will be at 10:30 am at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home at 511 W.Rayen Ave. Youngstown.
