Eula M. Hunter Carnathan- "Together Again"- Funeral services will be held Friday November 6, 2015 at 11 am at Jerusalem Baptist Church for Mrs. Eula Mae Hunter Carnathan, 97, Youngstown, who departed this life on October 29, 2015 at Valley Health Care, surrounded by her loving son Cecil, Pastor Derrick Anderson and devoted family friend Chonita Jackson. Eula was born the eldest child of the late Dan and Mary Reed Hunter on October 14. 1918 in Meridian, Mississippi. On July 18,1936, Eula married her husband of 63 years, Leo Carnathan, and to this union five children were born, Leroy, Mary Ann, Cecil, Essie, and Roger. Eula Mae Carnathan was a dedicated, dependable, and devoted member, and mother of Jerusalem Baptist Church. She sang in the choir prior to becoming a member of the Usher Board. Impressive was her tenure as President of the Jerusalem Baptist Usher Board which spanned 59 years. She was a lifetime member of the NAACP, a former member of the Louis Court #30, and a poll worker for the Mahoning County Board of Elections. Throughout her life Eula enjoyed traveling, wether a day trip to Cleveland, a week in Birmingham, or a month in Miami. She was an excellent cook and "melt in your mouth" homemade rolls were #1 with everyone. Her life centered around her family. She was truly the heart and soul of it. Most of all, this beautiful woman was the glue holding them together. This remarkable lady will always be remembered for her love of faith, family, and friends. Eula leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Cecil (Renee) Carnathan and Roger Carnathan with whom she made her home, both of Youngstown, two brothers; John E. Hunter of Birmingham, Alabama, and Harvey (Ida) Hunter of Miami, FL., three grandchildren; Duane Carnathan Sr. of Massilon, Oh., Germaine Miles which whom she reared of Atlanta GA., Alexandra Carnathan, of Youngstown, great-grandchildren; Samuelle Miles of Atlanta, Duane Carnathan Jr., and Amanda Carnathan-Mitchell, of Massillon, Oh., and several great great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephew, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo Carnathan, son Leroy Carnathan, daughters; Mary Ann and Essie Carnathan, grandson; Quincy Carnathan, sisters; Annie Mae, Emma Kate, Lillie, and Minnie, and brothers; Samuel and Thomas. Friends may call 1 hours prior to the service from 10 am to 11 am at the church. Caring arrangements were entrusted to F. D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home, Inc.
