Edna “Cookie” Hopkins

 Edna L. Hopkins aka as “Cookie”, 84 of Youngstown, who transitioned this life on Saturday, November 23, 2024, surrounded by her family. 

Ms. Hopkins was born October 10, 1940 to the late Edward and Martha Cook. Edna was the matriarch of the family.

She went to the Rayen High School. She was employed at the Brown Derby restaurant before going to work for General Electric in 1971 and retiring from there in 1997.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, listening to music, and spending time with her family. She was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins football team. She loved the studying the Bible and giving God all the praise. 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory and legacy her children, Yvonne (James) Patterson, Marilyn Johnson, Alanna Hopkins, Morris (Samantha) Hopkins and Arthur Hopkins; her grandchildren, Leon Hopkins, Sherie Hopkins, Tinika Hopkins, Ellis Moody II. , Lacretia Johnson, Robert Wright and Talia Brown; 14 great grandchildren, MyKayla H. Morgan H., Nadia R., Elise M., Tysean R., MaeLe’a B., Joi’Ana M., J’Manuel M., J’Maunie M., Giovanni J., Elijah M., Ray’Mon K., Elias M. and Jahsir V.; one great grandchild. Jaxsyn-Ranielle H.; her special cousin, Dorothy Turner; her little sister, Inez Jones and a host of other family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her close sister cousins, Barbara Cook and Lillian Harris, her uncle, James McBee; son in law, Lamarieal Johnson and her grandson, Maurice Johnson. 

There will be a visitation with the family from 11:30 to 12:30 PM on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and the service will start promptly at 12:30 PM.
