Dorothy Mae Gibbs

Dorothy M.Gibbs- Mrs. Dorothy Mae Gibbs, 74, departed this life for eternal peace on November 20, 2016, in the comfort of her home. Dorothy was born in Laurens, S.C., on September 4, 1942, the youngest child of Mr. Willie E. Wilson and Mrs. Ludie M. (Workman) Wilson. After high school, Dorothy moved to Youngstown and worked as an insurance agent at Atlanta Live for several years, and worked as the Administrative Assistant of the Union Baptist Church for over 20 years. Dorothy married the love of her life, Mr. Archie E. Gibbs on September 4, 1980, and remaining with him until his passing. Throughout her time as a member of the church, Dorothy sang in the choir, served on various committies, and was instrumental in leading others to the Lord. When prior illness prevented her from attending church regularly, Dorothy remained a mentor, motivator, prayer warrior, and served on the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. She also kept a zest for life, love, music, laughter, and her grandchildren. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Ronald E. (Marietta) Wilson, Angela D. Gibbs, and Cassandra L. Gibbs, all of Youngstown; her brother, Robert L. Wilson; longtime friend, Cornelius Payne Sr., 3 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband; both parents; 1 brother, and one sister. Homegoing serveces will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016, at the 12 noon, at the church.
