Doris L. Crawford– A funeral service will be at noon on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Union Baptist Church, for Mrs. Doris L. Crawford, 79, departed this life on Friday, April 12, 2019, in Fairfax, Va.
Mrs. Crawford was born July 20, 1939, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Adlois Smith and George Parks. She spent her youth and adult life in Youngstown and attended the Youngstown City Schools.
In October 1959, she married the love of her life, Willie E. Crawford. To this union three daughters were born, Debbie, Diane, and Donna. She worked at Kessler Products and retired in 1988 after 22 years of service. She reentered the workforce again and worked at the Social Security Administration before retiring for good in 2006.
In 2014, she began to split her residency living with her daughters, in Ohio and Virginia. While in Virginia, she was an active Participant at the Herndon Harbor Adult Day Health Care Center, where she was known for her love of music, dancing, and fashion. She loved to participate in fashion shows and Red Carpet events at the center and was recently honored for being best dressed. She has also been featured in published articles and interviews promoting the Adult Day Health Care Program.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters, Debbie, Diane, and Donna Crawford; William D. Howell, who was like her son; an aunt, JoAnne McDowell; a sister-in-law, Dorothy L. Crawford, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie E. Crawford; her sisters, Lois (Deta) Southerland and Rose Hollinshead; and uncles Clarence and Frank McDowell. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at the church.
