Darlene Ruth Shoemaker

Youngstown

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Ruth Shoemaker, who succumbed to her long battle with diabetes, heart issues, and COPD at her home on February 27, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Darlene was born on December 17, 1964, in Tiffin, Ohio, the beloved daughter of Naiomi Ruth Shoemaker and Paul Matthew Shoemaker. She grew up alongside four siblings, including her twin sister Natalie, who tragically passed away just months before her.

Darlene lived much of her life in Florida, where she cherished her time, but in recent months, she made the move to the valley to be closer to her only son, William. Her dedication to family was unwavering, and she will always be remembered for her loving, kind-hearted spirit.

An avid animal lover, Darlene had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Douglas. She leaves behind her son, William, as well as two sisters-in-law, Regina of The Valley and Evelyn Johnson, wife of Hercules Johnson from Maryland. She also leaves behind a host of extended family, including nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many other relatives by marriage and association.

Darlene's family in the Mahoning Valley, including niece Taren, niece Robin, and nephew Juan, will miss her dearly, alongside her neice Chrissy from Tiffin, Ohio. Darlene also leaves to mourn her four grandchildren; Nadia, Brooklyn, William III & Xzavier. Darlene had a unique ability to make everyone feel like family, and her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

In honor of Darlene’s life and legacy, her close friends and family have created a Facebook page to celebrate her memory. Due to her untimely death, donations are welcomed and appreciated to help support her final arrangements.

Darlene's kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for her family will live on in all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be forever missed, but her memories will continue to shine through the lives she touched. We are ever grateful for the resurrection where we can rest assured we will be together again. 1 Peter 1:3

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" - KJV

The family will celebrate Darlene’s life privately.
