On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, our loved one Darius J. Leonard transitioned from this earth into his heavenly home. Mr. Darius J. Leonard was born June 2, 1979. The son of Denise S. Leonard was the oldest child.
He was a joy and inspiration to all who knew him. He attended East High School (Golden Bears). Darius was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. For several years, he Worked in retail management in Toledo OH, VXI Telemarketing Company,where he was a top employee and was currently Residential Aide/Maintenance Staff for the YWCA of Youngstown. Also, taking on-line cooking courses. One of his aspirations was to become a Certified Chef. Darius loved cooking for Family and Friends.
His passion was participating in national, state, and local politics. Worked consistently and faithfully for Getting Out to Vote campaigns. During elections, he was the tall smiling man who handed out voting slate cards. He encouraged everyone to utilize their power as a citizen and vote.
Darius’ hobbies included cooking, which included cooking demonstrations videoed on Facebook Live.
He loved repairing electronics and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. In addition to being a dedicated President of theResidential Council for the YWCA. Darius loved his Family, friends, and his community.
He leaves to cherish his memories his Great-Aunt (Little Mama) Mildred Delgado Pierce, his Great-Uncle (Pops) Franklin Pierce, his Sister Denise S. Leonard, Aunt Yvette Stewart, Caretta R Byrd, Close Loved one and former fiance’, Nephew Xavion Leonard, Niece Nathaya Nance. Caretta Byrd’s childrenDaiyaunna Brogdon, Adreauna, Camia and Drelyn Tubbs andincluding a host of relatives and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his Mother Robinette S. Leonard, Grandparents Ruby and Jessie Anderson, Great Aunt June Hawkins, Uncles Robert L. Leonard, Louis Brown.
Darius “Big D” Leonard’s Family invites all who knew and loved him to join in the celebrating of his life and legacy.
There will be a visitation with the family from 11:00 to 12:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2024 at F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home and the service will start promptly at 12:00 PM.
Repass will follow immediately after the interment at YWCA 25 W. Rayen Ave. Youngstown, OH 44503.
